This 1 spice speeds up digestion in men

Everybody knows that constipation is bad.

It’s actually one of the worst things that your body can go through.

Constipation most commonly occurs when waste or stool moves too slowly through the digestive tract…

Or cannot be eliminated effectively from the rectum.

Some signs of constipation include straining, firm stools, feeling backed up, or a feeling that you can’t completely empty your bowels.

If you are experiencing those you might be constipated.

There is a chart that is called the Bristol Stool Chart which explains the shape and type of stools.

You can look it up online to classify the status of your bowel movements.

Actually, constipation is the most common gastrointestinal complaint in the U.S.

A study estimated that nearly 20% of the North American population suffers from constipation.

Constipation can stem from dehydration, stress, an unhealthy diet, and a sedentary lifestyle.

Overall, you don’t want the foods you eat to sit in your gut and essentially rot…

Resulting in various problems like higher endotoxin load, hemorrhoids, and so on.

What you want is a short transit time.

That is to say, it’s ideal to defecate 2 or 3 times a day.

Cardamom can help you with that, the study suggests.

This study was published in Molecular Nutrition & Food Research Journal. The animal experiments were carried out in National Chung Hsing University, Taiwan.

Cardamom is a spice with an intense, slightly sweet flavor that some people compare to mint.

It’s known for its use in traditional medicine, such as to help with digestion.

And that is exactly what this study found.

The researchers wanted to see the effects of cardamom extract in rats’ intestines.

“The dose effects of pectic polysaccharide-rich extract from the food spice cardamom (Amomum villosum Lour.) on intestinal environment were investigated.”

The rats were fed 40mg of cardamom extract every day for a period of time…

The results were astonishing.

The transition time decreased by a hefty 58%.

The administration of cardamom extract effectively shortened hamster gastrointestinal transit time by approximately 58%”

The stools softened, which is great when you are constipated because moisture helps the feces move easier.

“(…) increased fecal moisture contents (148-174%)”

The amount of toxic ammonia that was produced in the gut declined.

“(…) reduced the production of toxic ammonia (by 16.1-64.5%).”

And it increased SCFA (short-chain fatty acids) in the lower part of the gut.

This should have the effect of mitigating some of the negative effects of free floating PUFA there.

“(…) increased SCFA concentrations in hindgut (4.0- to 7.8-fold)”

It’s fascinating how a simple spice like cardamom, which you can literally find in every supermarket, can do wonders for your health…

As a matter of fact, there are other studies that show cardamom can alleviate inflammation, cancer, cavities, anxiety, and more.

There’s something to ancient herbs and their therapeutic usages.

The use of cardamom dates back 4,000 years.

And at last modern science is slowly discovering its mysteries…
