This vitamin can protect against prostate cancer
K2 is a naturally occurring vitamin which is abundant in foods, including hard cheeses.
This is a relatively newly discovered vitamin — though its effects have been observed for much longer.
Vitamin K2 is known for its ability to help regulate calcium and keep arteries free of plaque.
But there are a whole host of other, less well known benefits of vitamin K2.
For example, vitamin K2 has numerous beneficial effects against prostate cancer.
This series of animal and cell experiments were performed at the University of Illinois. The results were published in the Journal of Evidence-Based Complementary and Alternative Medicine.
Vitamin K2 has been investigated for its beneficial effects on numerous different types of cancer.
“In recent years, several studies have shown that vitamin k2 has anticancer activity in a variety of cancer cells.”
Prostate cancer is the cancer men are most concerned about — but this was the study to look into the effects of vitamin K2 on prostate cancer.
“The anti-tumor effects of VK2 in prostate cancer are currently not known.”
Some cancer researchers believe that prostate cancer can be broken down into two types.
Androgen dependent and androgen independent.
Androgens are male sex hormones, specifically testosterone and DHT in this case.
The accuracy of this claim is doubtful — but the researchers decided to carry out experiments on both types of prostate cancer tumor cells.
“We sought to characterize the anticancer potential of Vitamin K2 in both androgen-dependent and -independent prostate cancer cells.”
The cell experiments showed that vitamin K2 could suppress the growth of cancer cells through a number of different mechanisms.
Vitamin K2 caused prostate cancer cells to die — a process called apoptosis — critical in fighting the spread of cancer.
Vitamin K2 worked — whether or not the cancer cells were deemed to be androgen dependent.
“Vitamin K2 is able to suppress viability of androgen independent and androgen independent prostate cancer cells via apoptosis.”
In prostate cancer cells with high levels of androgen receptors, K2 decreased those receptor numbers.
Vitamin K2 also lowered prostate-specific antigen (PSA), a biomarker of prostate cancer.
“Vitamin K2 reduces androgen receptor expression and PSA in androgen-independent prostate cancer cells.”
Cancer – like many illnesses – is closely tied to chronic inflammation.
Vitamin K2 lowered inflammation in prostate cancer cells.
“Our results in a vitamin K2 as a potential anti-inflammatory agent, as several inflammatory genes are down regulated and prostate cancer cells following treatment.”
The researchers also carried out cancer experiments on live animals.
They injected young mice with prostate cancer cells.
Normally these cells divide and multiply, giving the mice aggressive prostate cancer.
Some mice were given vitamin K2 to see its effect on prostate cancer in living organisms.
Vitamin K2 has a potent anticancer effect in animals injected with prostate cancer cells.
The effect was the same whether the animals were injected with cells deemed to be androgen-dependent or not.
“In mice, K2 administration resulted in significant inhibition of both androgen-dependent and androgen-independent tumor growth.”
The researchers had to conclude that vitamin K2 may be very useful in the treatment of prostate cancer.
“Vitamin K2 may be a potential therapeutic agent in the treatment of prostate cancer.”
The basic form of vitamin K (K1) comes from green leafy vegetables.
Gut bacteria can convert K-1 into vitamin K2.
Foods which are fermented by bacteria can also contain high levels of vitamin K2 — these include cheeses like gouda and edam.
These days many people don’t eat enough vitamin K2.
And often it seems likely that antibiotics and the modern diet mean your gut bacteria may not produce much either.
K2 is also available as a supplement.
The MK4 variant of vitamin K2 has the most research backing its effects.
This vitamin is one of the critical nutritional factors that many people are missing these days.
You should always consult a healthcare practitioner about treating and diagnosing health related problems.
—-Important Message About Vitamin K2—-
The right kind of vitamin K2 boosts penile blood flow
If you want great blood flow down there, it’s essential that you get enough vitamin K2 — and not just any K2, but the right kind of K2.
The right kind of vitamin K2 clears the arteries out, removing any blockages and putting calcium deposits back into the bones where they belong.
This improves blood flow almost immediately — especially down there where men need good blood flow the most.
Plus, as an added bonus, having the right amount of vitamin K2 in the body reduces the chance of heart disease by more than 50%:
But here’s the thing — men should get the right kind of vitamin K2 from foods, NOT supplements.
