This naturally prevents cancer from forming

Chemotherapy and radiation are difficult treatments to endure.

But if you get a serious cancer diagnosis, they may be the option most men will agree to.

And that includes a diagnosis of melanoma – an aggressive skin cancer.

Fortunately, you can take steps to reduce your risk of developing cancer in the first place.

But you aren’t likely to hear about these from your doctor…

Doctors are trained by Big Pharma… And there isn’t a lot of money in preventative treatments.

But I’m going to tell you about an interesting link between vitamin D and slowing down melanoma – and what it might mean in preventing other cancers from forming.

What is melanoma?

Melanoma is usually a skin cancer, but it can also be found in the eye or intestines as well.

And it can be very aggressive, sometimes leading to death.

“…a form of cancer that begins in melanocytes (cells that make the pigment melanin). It may begin in a mole (skin melanoma), but can also begin in other pigmented tissues, such as in the eye or in the intestines.”

If you are diagnosed with melanoma or any other cancer, it’s important that you talk with your doctor about your treatment options.

Cancer can be a very dangerous condition and I’m not a doctor so I can’t give you medical advice. You need to work with your doctor on appropriate treatments.

But I can tell you about the studies that are being done, so you have a full picture of your options.

Lower vitamin D levels linked to worse melanoma outcomes

Researchers have discovered that when people have low vitamin D levels in their bodies, their melanoma often gets worse – and faster.

“Scientists have previously known that lower levels of vitamin D circulating in the body have been linked to worse outcomes for people with melanoma, but they haven’t fully understood the mechanisms that cause this.”

It’s incredibly common for folks in modern society to have low vitamin D.

Our skin produces vitamin D from sunlight. And in modern society we spend a ton of time indoors.

That means that many of us don’t have the opportunity to make vitamin D from sunshine like our ancestors did.

And this can lead to problems with our immune systems.

Vitamin D might help the immune system fight cancer.

This study also shows that getting enough vitamin D helps to slow down the progression of melanoma by helping the immune system work better at fighting the disease.

“But what’s really intriguing, is that we can now see how vitamin D might help the immune system fight cancer. We know when the Wnt/β-catenin pathway is active in melanoma, it can dampen down the immune response – causing fewer immune cells to reach the inside of the tumour, where they could potentially fight the cancer better.”

While vitamin D won’t treat cancer on its own, this mechanism is intriguing – and might work for other cancers besides melanoma.

Could getting adequate vitamin D prevent cancer?

First, you can find out if you have enough vitamin D by getting it checked by a doctor.

And most people are low on vitamin D, especially in the winter.

Encouragingly, vitamin D supplements work well if you need more vitamin D.

The kind you want is D3.

Vitamin D has quite a number of beneficial properties, including slowing down the growth of some cancers.

It’s conceivable that getting enough vitamin D will create conditions that will make cancer less likely to form in the first place.

The Bottom line on vitamin D and cancer…

Vitamin D has remarkable benefits for overall health.

But most people have a vitamin D deficiency because of the amount of time we spend indoors.

Luckily, it’s easy to test vitamin D levels – and easy to supplement to bring your levels up if they are low.

And by the way, increasing your D levels to 50 – 80 on a blood test gives you remarkable resistance to viruses…so there is every reason to increase your D3 levels.

Did you know that cancer cells LOVE low oxygen?

The less oxygen you have in your cells and tissues, the more susceptible they are to cancer.

Countless studies like this one show us that oxygenated cells destroy cancer cells better and faster than cells with less oxygen:
