A glass of this will greatly improve your sleep with these extra benefits

My friend used to say to me “I’ll sleep when I’m dead.”

He was a guy who liked to burn the candle at both ends… And he ended up getting quite sick.

I still think it was because he wasn’t sleeping enough.

I’m all for rolling up your sleeves, hard work, and going after something as a recipe for success.

But working non-stop, never resting, and sleeping only a little bit is a recipe for failure.

Lack of sleep can create massive problems for your body.

And one of those problems is increasing the internal inflammation that causes chronic illness…

The same inflammation causes the buildup of tau proteins in the brain…the buildup of tau that contributes to Alzheimer’s.

In other words, not getting enough sleep can have serious long-term health consequences.

But not getting enough sleep can also have a more subtle effect.

It can mess up your ability to evaluate opportunities as they arise in your life…

And that can hold you back from success.

The connection between sleep and decision-making

The University of Central Florida did a study with entrepreneurs to see how not getting enough sleep affects their ability to make solid decisions about business opportunities.

This research was spurred on by the comments about sleep that Ariana Huffington and Jeff Bezos made about the importance of sleep to being successful in business.

And that’s because sleep plays an important role in decision-making:

“…sleep plays an especially important role in not only identifying a good business idea, but in evaluating it and believing it is viable.”

In the past, there have been studies about sleep and good job performance…

But this particular study points to sleep being critical in analyzing a new idea and being able to make a sound decision about it.

“The new study found a link between sleep and the cognitive skills needed to identify and evaluate an idea. Entrepreneurs use experience and business knowledge to evaluate ideas that could turn into successful business ventures. But sleep appears to be an important factor as well.”

Unfortunately, in the culture of the United States, hustling and avoiding sleep is somewhat of a cultural expectation.

But it may actually cause you problems at work and keep you from achieving the kind of success you want.

According to the study’s lead author Jeff Gish, an assistant business professor at the University of Central Florida:

Entrepreneurs who consistently choose hustle over sleep, thinking that sleep comes after success, may be subverting their efforts to succeed Everyone needs a good night of sleep, but it is especially important for entrepreneurs.”

Sleep is essential to having a successful life.

How much sleep do you need?

The magic number for sleep seems to be seven or more hours a night.

This is consistent across many different studies.

In the case of entrepreneurs, seven or more hours a night helped them make better decisions about potential opportunities.

“Those participants who had at least seven hours of sleep each night consistently selected the best pitches identified by the expert panel. Those who had less sleep or restless sleep did not consistently pick the best pitches.”

If you aren’t getting seven or more hours of sleep a night, then what do you do?

How to get better sleep

If you aren’t getting very good sleep now, or if you aren’t sleeping enough, there are several methods you can try. Here are a few:

Collagen

Many people find that taking some collagen (I use Great Lakes Collagen) in a glass of juice before bed helps them to sleep through the night.

Blue blocker glasses

I’ve also seen people have good success with blue blocker glasses as well.

They use them while they are on electronic devices to keep the blue light from messing with their sleep cycle.

Routine

One of the biggest things, though, is to develop a routine.

Get up and go to bed at the same time every night for the best sleep.

The bottom line: A good night’s sleep is important for health and for mental performance.

If you want to get ahead in life, then you should be protecting your sleep.
