How to know if your blood pressure reading is accurate

It seems like almost everyone over 50 is on blood pressure treatments of some kind.

That’s because the definition for high blood pressure just keeps falling.

Now anything over 120/80 is considered to be high blood pressure.

This standard means that a whole lot of people are on high blood pressure treatments…

…which is a HUGE windfall for the owners of the Big Pharma companies.

Combine this with the reality that many people don’t get accurate readings at the doctor’s office for blood pressure…

And you have the potential for lots of overprescribing of blood pressure treatments!

Part of the problem with inaccurate readings is HOW we measure blood pressure.

It used to be a skill that a nurse or doctor would learn in school, but now most blood pressure is measured with an automated blood pressure device.

This takes out the human element, which is sometimes helpful, but it’s hard for a machine to know if there was a mistake being made.

In addition, the standard blood pressure cuff fit is designed for people with “standard” weight.

If you are overweight, then the cuff may not fit you properly and can throw off the blood pressure measurement.

“As the world-wide prevalence of obesity continues to rise, the importance of screening, diagnosing, and treating hypertension to recommended targets cannot be overstated. Unfortunately, in the setting of obesity, the accurate measurement of blood pressure (BP) is more difficult, primarily related to inadequate cuff size and fit. Most standard BP cuffs currently in use are designed for cylindrical arms and are rectangular in shape. When these cuffs are applied to individuals with obesity, they are often too long on the arm, with the lower cuff border covering the antecubital fossa, and too loose at the distal end of the cuff, leaving substantial space between the skin and the interior of the cuff. This poor cuff fit leads to nonuniform compression of the brachial artery with significant implications for BP measurement accuracy.”

Blood pressure cuffs DO come in different sizes, but it’s rare for doctors offices to use them.

If you are a larger person, you will usually need to ask for a different size cuff in order to get an accurate reading.

In addition to cuff size, there are several techniques that can be used that can help you get an accurate blood pressure reading.

You should:

  • Relax 3 to 5 minutes before your blood pressure is taken
  • Avoid caffeine, smoking, and exercise for 30 minutes before your blood pressure is taken
  • Have an empty bladder
  • No talking during the reading!
  • Cuff should go directly on skin and not over clothing
  • Reading should be taken while you are sitting on a chair and not on an exam table

I’m not making these suggestions up actually — they come from the American Heart Association.

If you have been diagnosed with high blood pressure, then you want to make sure it’s a condition you ACTUALLY have before going on treatments for it.

Getting an accurate blood pressure reading is critical to knowing your actual blood pressure.

That’s why doing everything you can to make sure you have an accurate reading is important.

I would even go so far as to say that if you think your blood pressure is high, that you should get a blood pressure cuff…

And measure yourself at home — because that measurement can be dramatically different then the measurement in the doctor’s office.

I believe that blood pressure treatments are wildly overprescribed, and I personally wouldn’t go on them.

But if you are going to go on blood pressure treatments, you should at least make sure you actually need them…

Because the readings in the doctor’s office aren’t always accurate.

Thanks to this shake, I’m getting hot, pumping blood flow everywhere in my body…

…especially in my member where it’s plumping up and looking bigger than ever…

My wife even commented on how much thicker I felt inside her — and this was just a week after drinking this shake!

The reason it works is because it contains 5 vital nutrients for great blood flow.

These 5 nutrients open up my arteries and increase blood flow, and it even lowers my pressure naturally.

Here’s my new blood flow shake — try it and let me know how it goes
