Ginger is one of the most beneficial, health giving herbs.

Ginger can boost testosterone, improve blood sugar in lipids, increase metabolic rate, and lower blood pressure.

It’s also well-known for its ability to improve digestion and other gastrointestinal factors.

This made researchers question whether it could be beneficial to cancer patients.

A major complication in cancer is wasting — the loss of muscle and other body tissues.

This happens because of gastrointestinal problems and decreasing appetite.

A recent study looked at the effect of ginger on digest of problems and appetite in cancer patients.

All patients found an improvement in digestive symptoms, including nausea and reflux.

The human research was carried out by doctors at the Department of Research, William Osler Health System, Brampton, Canada. The results were published in the journal Supportive Palliative Care.

Loss of appetite and muscle mass is a major problem for cancer patients.

It decreases quality of life, but it also has an effect on the range of treatment options available.

Furthermore, the loss of muscle mass and appetite are some of the major factors which compound the problems attributed to cancer itself.

“Anorexia–cachexia syndrome is a complex condition in advanced cancer patients, defined by disproportionate loss of skeletal muscle mass, and a lack or loss of appetite. This condition greatly lowers the quality of life and limits the treatment options.”

Loss of appetite is the most common problem in this syndrome.

But it is often accompanied by nausea, vomiting, reflux and dysmotility (where the digestive system slows or stops moving completely).

“The syndrome is commonly associated with gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea and vomiting.”

Ginger is well known to improve all of these symptoms in healthy people.

The question is whether it could improve these symptoms in people suffering with cancer.

“Ginger has been successful in treating these symptoms but has not yet been tested on patients with advanced cancer.”

The researchers carried out investigations using ginger cancer patients.

They asked patients about their symptoms related to the common gastrointestinal problems.

The researchers also used advanced testing equipment which looked at the electrical conductivity of the gastrointestinal system.

“Electrogastrography is a technology that allows the direct recording of gastric myoelectrical activity (GMA).”

The researchers included 15 cancer patients in the study.

“We aimed to determine the effects of ginger on the GMA in these patients, and  evaluate the subjective symptoms using 3 validated scales.”

The electrical conductivity studies showed improvement in 60% of the participants when they used ginger.

“Electrogastrography showed that nine of the 15 patients had a direct improvement in their gut electrical activity.”

Speaking with the patients, the researchers discovered that ginger was significantly more effective than those tests indicated.

All of the participants reported significant improvements in the major symptoms associated with loss of appetite and wasting.

“All patients showed improvement in reported symptoms, most notably nausea, dysmotility- and reflux-like symptoms.”

The research shows that ginger improves gastrointestinal electrical activity and symptoms in patients with advanced cancer.

“These findings suggest that ginger may improve gastrointestinal electrical activity and they have a notable effect on symptom improvement.”

The study used a relatively small amount of inexpensive ginger.

Less than 2 g per day.

“Patients were instructed to take a daily capsule of 1650 mg of ginger for 14 days and outcome measures were recorded at pre- and post-intervention.”

I take my daily ginger as tea with a little honey.

The research shows that ginger should significantly improve quality-of-life and cancer patients.

But these improvements may also lead to better nutrition — which could lead to objectively better outcomes.

Cancer is also closely linked to gut health…

…particularly the bad bacteria which can populate the cut and poison the rest of the body.

The improvement in these symptoms probably indicate the lower level of these bacterial toxins in the body.

Of particular importance is the improvement in dysmotility.

Dysmotility (slowing or freezing of the digestive system) allows toxic, cancer-implicated bacteria to replicate and leak into the rest of the body.

Keeping the digestive system moving is very important for everyone.

And this study shows that ginger can help to do that in people with advanced cancer.

You should always consult a healthcare practitioner about treating and diagnosing health-related problems.

Did you know high oxygen levels kill cancer cells?

It’s true. And this natural white powder — it oxygenates the cells, making cells healthier and more resistant to cancer.

And you can get a pound of it for 89 cents or less at most grocery stores. You may even have some in your kitchen right now…

Augusta University scientists call this cheap white powder a “potentially practical and/or cost-effective and relatively safe method…”

“…to activate splenic anti-inflammatory pathways in humans and therefore may have significant therapeutic potential for inflammatory disease.”

Here’s the cheap white powder costing less than a buck —  oxygenates the cells and helps protect against cancer in men
