I know it sounds a little on the woo-woo side when I talk about inflammation and how much chronic inflammation contributes to disease.

Worldwide, 3 of 5 people die due to chronic inflammatory diseases like stroke, chronic respiratory diseases, heart disorders, cancer, obesity, and diabetes.

I think it’s because doctors (and Big Pharma) like to treat SYMPTOMS.

They like to have something to measure and say “this is getting better.”

The problem is that treating the symptoms doesn’t really make the problem go away. It just masks the problem.

And the way that Big Pharma deals with inflammation is to treat it with chemical treatments.

NSAIDs like Advil and Aleve fly off the shelves at pharmacies.

“Most Western medicine has been focusing on blocking the neural pathways of pain to relieve the symptoms, but there are so many pain pathways and so many ways to open each of them,” says senior author Qiufu Ma, a researcher at Harvard Medical School.

But these treatments come with significant side effects, including suppressing lung function in some people.

This study out of the Harvard Medical School shows that a traditional Chinese therapy – acupuncture – can help reduce chronic inflammation.

They specifically looked at a more modern type of acupuncture called electroacupuncture.

In electroacupuncture (EA), needles are inserted by hand but then attached to a device that generates electrical current that causes stimulation of the needles.

In this mice experiment, the researchers found that electroacupuncture can suppress the inflammatory response.

The team then conducted electroacupuncture at a different acupoint, this time on mice’s hindlegs. They found stimulation at a low intensity of 0.5 mA for 15 minutes could significantly reduce proinflammatory molecule levels either before or after LPS-injection.

This is great news because if you are suffering with diseases caused by chronic inflammation…

…reducing the inflammatory response can help your body heal, and in my experience often reverses the disease!

Another exciting part of this experiment is that the electroacupuncture actually INCREASED the survival rate in the mice…

…making them live LONGER!

Mice’s survival rate after electroacupuncture also increased by 1-fold or more.

I don’t know about you, but living longer is always a GREAT benefit.

Overall, electroacupuncture is a fairly safe therapy when performed by someone who knows what they are doing.

I would say it’s worth a shot to see if it can help you feel better if you suffer from a chronic inflammatory disease.
