Doing this for 10 min a day can help you fight cancer
Cancer rates have been slowly declining in the US over the last few decades.
The war on cancer is being won, but slowly.
Many cancer treatments are not 100% effective. Side effects are usually a major concern.
So a natural treatment for cancer with no side effects could be beneficial for millions of people.
Scientists have discovered that stretching reduces tumour growth by over 50%.
This research was conducted by scientists at Harvard Medical School, the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, and the University of Vermont. The results were published in the journal Scientific Reports.
Effective, alternative, and preventative measures against cancer are of great interest.
“There is growing interest in non-pharmacological treatments that could boost natural defenses against cancer and lead to cancer prevention.”
Stretching is known to have many health benefits.
It can lower inflammation and soften toughened tissues.
“Recent studies have shown that gentle daily stretching for 10 minutes can reduce local connective tissue inflammation and fibrosis.”
Tough tissues provide the type of environment that cancer thrives in.
“Mechanical factors within the stroma can influence the tumor microenvironment.”
So softening up areas by stretching may provide some protection against cancer.
“We hypothesized that stretching would reduce the growth of tumors.”
The experiment involved implanting cancer cells into mice. Usually these cells go on to develop into cancerous tumours.
“Female mice underwent injection of tumor cells into the fat pad.”
After the mice were given cancer cells they were split into two groups.
There were 66 mice in total.
Some of the mice were stretched for 10 minutes once a day, four days a week.
The rest of the mice were not subjected to any stretching.
“Mice were randomized to stretch vs. no stretch, and treated for 10 minutes once a day, for four weeks.”
There is already a protocol on how to safely stretch a mouse!
“We adapted a well-established protocol for gentle stretching in mice — mice are held by the tail and gently lifted, allowing the front paws to grasp a bar.”
Mice can stay stretched like this pretty comfortably for about 10 minutes.
“We found in previous studies that mice could hold this position comfortably for 10 minutes without struggling or vocalizing.”
All of the mice developed tumors as expected.
Tumors in the stretching group were much smaller.
“Tumor volume at end-point was 52% smaller in the stretch group, compared to the no-stretch group in the absence of any other treatment.”
The animals were not receiving any other drugs or treatment.
The only difference between the groups of animals was stretching.
The scientists believe that stretching could become a major factor in cancer treatment and prevention.
“Stretching is a gentle, non-pharmacological intervention that could become an important component of cancer treatment and prevention.”
Stretching led to complex changes in the biochemistry of the animals.
Stretching seems to stimulate internal anti-cancer mechanisms.
“Immune responses were activated and levels of Specialized Pro-Resolving Mediators were elevated in the stretch group.”
Practices that involve stretching are already pretty commonplace in complementary cancer treatments.
But they are generally seen as therapies to make the individual feel better — rather than therapies which fight cancer.
“Gentle movement-based techniques such as yoga, tai chi and qi gong are popular and well tolerated among cancer patients for managing symptoms and improving mobility and well-being.”
Inflammation is another factor associated with cancer.
Just a little stretching can lower inflammation significantly.
The same team of scientists previously found that stretching fights inflammation.
“Our studies show that gentle stretching for 10 minutes can have profound effects on reducing inflammation animals via direct mechanical effects on the stretched tissues.”
Just 10 minutes of stretching per day could have a massive benefit to your health.
You should consult a healthcare question about treating and diagnosing cancer.

This cheap white powder oxygenates the cells to help kill cancer cells
Multiple studies show that cancer cells thrive in low-oxygen states…
…so cancer cells hate oxygen the way a burglar in the night hates bright lights.
And this natural white powder — it oxygenates the cells according to a mouse study, making cells healthier and more resistant to cancer.
It’s like a spotlight shining directly onto every single one of your cells, protecting them and ready to act if any threat appears…
And you can get a pound of it for 89 cents or less at most grocery stores. You may even have some in your kitchen right now…
