There are a ton of things that you can do today to improve your health and improve your life.

But trying to do them all yourself or by sheer will power isn’t always the most effective solution.

Willpower is a limited resource for people and it will only last so long before it gives out.

Instead, it’s much better to focus on changing habits that are going to give you a much better quality of life overall.

When you change your habits, then you no longer have to use a lot of willpower to change your life.

It becomes much easier to make changes that create happiness and success in life.

Now… with that being said…

Most people know that being physically active goes a long way to preventing diseases like erections problems, diabetes, cancer, dementia, and more.

But it’s pretty easy to not get enough physical activity in and just sit in front of your TV or computer.

Usually, willing yourself to be more physically active…

…to take daily walks, or go to the gym…

…only works for a short amount of time before folks go back to their old way of doing things.

But… if you find friends to be physically active with then you will set yourself up for much more likely success.

In a study published in PLOS, researchers found that if you don’t get much physical activity now and you start interacting with physically active people…

…you are much more likely to become physically active yourself.

When the simulations included social interactions between sedentary and moderately active people, sedentary populations became more physically active in the long term.

The researchers also found the opposite to be true.

When people aren’t involved with others who are physically active their activity level tends to decrease over time.

The model simulations showed that, in the absence of social interactions, populations experienced a long-term decrease in physically active individuals, and sedentary behavior began to dominate.

This is a big deal, because research has shown over and over again that you are much more likely to live a healthy life if you are physically active.

Even moderate walking can have a profound effect on longevity.

In this cohort study of 2110 adults with a mean follow-up of 10.8 years, participants taking at least 7000 steps/d, compared with those taking fewer than 7000 steps/d, had a 50% to 70% lower risk of mortality. There was no association of step intensity with mortality regardless of adjustment for step volume.

“We have traditionally directed physical activity interventions by engaging sedentary individuals to become more active. Our model suggests that focusing on the moderately active population to sustain their activity and increasing their interactions with sedentary people could stimulate higher levels of overall physical activity in the population.”

My personal takeaway is that if you want to be healthy long into old age and maintain both sexual function and overall health…

…then who you hang out with matters. A lot.

It’s important to hang out with people who live the kind of lifestyle that will get you to those goals.

It increases your odds of being healthy by a lot.
