DHT supplementation vs Testosterone

DHT supplementation vs Testosterone

One of the primary problems that we address here is the seemingly inevitable decline in testosterone.

As men age, their testosterone levels tend to fall.

There are exceptions.

We have seen in many newsletters that testosterone levels can stay high for a man’s entire lifetime.

But in today’s society testosterone decline is quite common.

It’s not surprising with the diets and environmental insults that we all suffer.

The solution often seems to be taking supplemental testosterone.

The trouble here is that testosterone supplementation can result in higher estrogen levels.

The body turns any extra testosterone into estrogen.

So instead of the supplements raising testosterone, they raise estrogen.

But there may be a way to get around this problem.

And it has to do with the relationship between testosterone and DHT.

To find it, we start by looking at how the hormones are formed.

[cmamad id=”4070″ align=”center” tabid=”display-desktop” mobid=”display-desktop” stg=””]

All sex hormones start as cholesterol.

The cholesterol is turned into pregnenolone.

From there, it’s a very complicated tree of different hormones.

I want you to look at this hormone tree, and look in the red box that I highlighted:

You can see in this tree that testosterone can turn into 19-hydroxy testosterone (HDT).

This is the route testosterone follows when it turns into estrogen in the form of estradiol.

Estradiol is an extremely powerful estrogen.

And you don’t want high levels of estradiol.

We’ve discussed the damage of excess estrogens, and they’re just not a good thing.

Normally, our bodies keep some testosterone intact for balance.

Then the body converts the rest to either estrogen or DHT.

As we age, the balance changes.

Despite declining serum testosterone levels, total estradiol and DHT concentrations do not change (or else decrease only slightly) with aging.

This implies that testosterone levels are not necessarily lower due to lower production.

Instead, as a man ages and has a poor metabolism, his body converts more of that testosterone.

It doesn’t keep enough testosterone “back” to balance the resulting estrogen.

So it converts the testosterone into estradiol, and to some extent into DHT.

Then you find your testosterone levels are low, and your doctor wants to supplement testosterone.

But it may be better to supplement with DHT instead of testosterone.

Here’s why.

As it turns out, testosterone is not the most active of the male hormones.

The most active male hormone is DHT.

Testosterone is a storage form of the hormone DHT, and it is gradually turned into DHT.

It is actually DHT that contributes to a lot of the benefits of testosterone.

And yet the drug companies have been intent on pushing testosterone to millions of men.

This study shows that DHT may be a better choice.

Researchers gave DHT to a group of men over 55.

Then they watched the results over two years.

309 men participated in this study, and they were split into groups.

One group of men was given a placebo that didn’t have any effect.

This is the control group so that the researchers can compare the results.

Another group of the men was given DHT as a topical gel.

They used a form sold as Andractim.

One flaw in the study is that they used 70 milligrams of DHT.

This is a huge amount, and it’s nowhere near low enough to be normal for levels found in the male body.

But still, the study is very revealing.

The men who used the DHT reported satisfactory sexual performance.

There were some cases of a lowered libido, but they only reported a very tiny decline in libido.

What’s interesting is that their estrogen levels fell radically.

DHT crowds out estrogen production in the male body.

Also, this very high level of DHT produced a small decline in bone density.

This decline in bone density reversed when DHT stopped.

And it may not occur when appropriate levels of DHT are used.

There were very few dropouts in the study — the men seemed enthusiastic to continue for the full 24 months.

The study concluded that DHT has some amazing qualities.

One of these is that DHT could easily be used to fix gynecomastia.

Many men have gynecomastia from high estrogen levels.

Lower estrogen levels are the key to reversing the gynecomastia.

And DHT lowers estrogen levels in a safer way than aromatase inhibitors.

The researchers discuss the advantages of DHT over aromatase inhibitors in lowering estrogen levels.

This study shows that men can be on DHT for the long run without damage.

I wish that the study had used more normal levels of DHT, such as 5 to 10 mg instead of 70 mg.

But I’m becoming more and more enthusiastic about the uses of DHT and supplementing DHT for the aging male.

DHT is available in the form of Andractim by prescription.

And there are some over-the-counter products similar to DHT that seem to work just as well.

And these are fully legal without a prescription.

1. What is the difference between testosterone and DHT
Testosterone and DHT are very confusing. There is also the question of free testosterone versus total testosterone and the role of other hormones such as luteinizing hormone or LH, and sex hormone binding globulin, or as HPG.The way that I look at it, testosterone does have some direct effects on a man. It will help a man increases sex drive. Testosterone will also help a man build better muscle, lose belly fat, and be a bit more assertive. However, the testosterone hormone does not create erections.DHT is what I regard as a more active form of testosterone. Die Hydro testosterone, or DHT, can help increase men’s erection quality as well as their well-being sexually. Many times, men may be better off supplementing with DHT under the advice and direction of a qualified physician, rather than testosterone. That’s because testosterone can turn into estrogen in the body. Supplemental, or exogenous testosterone, is more likely to turn into estrogen.DHT does not turn into estrogen in the male body. Many men are concerned about DHT because they have heard that it can cause hair loss or prostate problems. However, I do not believe that DHT or causes either hair loss or prostate issues. In fact, men generally get prostate problems and hair loss as they age at the same time as their levels of male androgens fall. If DHT was responsible for all this, then bald men would be teenagers and those men would also have enlarged prostates at the age of 15 when hormones are highest. In fact, both DHT and testosterone at healthy levels can help protect a man against prostate issues and can help a man keep his head of hair.

2. What is the relationship between DHT & Aging?
As a man ages, testosterone often falls and so do DHT levels. But aging does not necessarily have to cause a decline in DHT levels or testosterone.DHE, in particular, can maintain a constant level throughout a man’s life. However, if a man is not having regular partner sex, or if the man has various illnesses, stresses, and trauma, his DHT levels may fall. As men age, they frequently become sick with other problems that then cause DHT levels to fall. However, there is nothing about aging that necessarily lowers DHT levels, or for that matter, the amount of testosterone a man has. Men who have healthy DHT levels as they get older do not necessarily have any additional prostate issues or hair loss either. In fact, in a recent study done on DHT supplementation for older men, the men’s prostate did not enlarge at all during DHT supplementation. The men did have a better sex life though. It is quite possible for an aging man to maintain a very healthy DHT level.

3. What are some of the best DHT supplements?
Although the DHT molecule is not particularly difficult or expensive to make, it is heavily controlled as a harmful steroid. Rightly or wrongly, is very difficult to get DHT except by paying a high price for the one DHT supplement that is readily available, the skin DHT topical cream called Andractim.Andractim is a 2.5% DHT gel designed for topical application.  It is suspended in alcohol and some other emulsifier ingredients that make it into the gel. This is the only way to get a DHT supplement assuming that you get a legitimate tube and not one of the fake Andractim tubes that are being manufactured illegally. Andractim is the best way to submit DHT at the moment.  You should be aware that you do have to use it frequently because it is not stored in the body. You may want to take a two or three times a day, but always consult with your physician about dosages and let him or her know if you are taking anything else. This remains the only legal DHT supplement and it is a good one.

4. Testosterone vs DHT, which is important?
Though Testosterone usually gets a better Outreach among the two, DHT is more important. Dihydrotestosterone (DHT) is the male androgen which is known to be three to five times stronger than testosterone when it comes to the sexual health and energy, in a man.DHT is also known as a powerful aromatase enzyme inhibitor since it prevents the conversion of testosterone into estrogen. Usually, DHT gets a bad press, since it is believed to be the core reason behind hair fall and prostate issues among men. But the true role of testosterone and DHT and the relation between the two is complex. Though Testosterone is the active androgen responsible for the anabolic effects on muscle in men, DHT is very important for the full performance of Testosterone.DHT boost the nervous system in a very powerful way, as it increases the level of neurological efficiency and improves the body’s resistance to psychological and physical stress. Also, DHT is very important since it helps in decreasing the secretion of gonadotropins by acting on the pituitary gland. This lowering of the secretion of gonadotropins lowers the production of the raw materials that create estrogen. Dihydrotestosterone ( DHT ) is also medically well known for its mood-boosting properties and is very important among the sex hormones in a man.DHT is more important to brain health than testosterone since its neural impact can last as much as twenty-four hours when compared to the effects of testosterone. Balanced DHT levels can help regulate cholesterol levels and also helps in balancing the body composition. It can also lead to a better sex life, better mood and streamlined progress when it comes to strength and body conditioning. It is also responsible for the biological characteristics of males such as a deeper voice, body hair and increased muscle mass. Thus though DHT is usually considered bad, its true function is a blessing for the body.DHT is also found to promote the amino acid uptake in fast twitch muscle fibers and also helps to boost protein synthesis, cell signaling and cell proliferation. In addition, DHT is more important than testosterone when it comes to sexual function and libido. A good DHT level has been found to increase the ejaculation time, able to mitigate erectile dysfunction problems and reduce depression. Thus there are a lot of crucial health benefits that come with having a balanced DHT level, in contrast to the bad rap that it usually receives in the hands of pharmaceutical companies.
