Are Big Pharma Testosterone Ads Creating Dependency?

Testosterone supplements are being touted by Big Pharma as the cure-all for male aging.

Better sex drive?

More stamina?

Stronger muscles?

Get it all easily with testosterone!

It reminds me of those “snake oil” ads from back in the days of the wild, wild west. Where there would be ONE cure for everything that ailed you, no matter how little proof there was for it.

But the crazy thing is that testosterone works, especially when it’s produced by your own body. It does give you a better sex drive, more stamina, and stronger muscles. It can even make you more alpha in your behavior.

So what’s the problem?

The problem is that A LOT of guys are using testosterone supplements when they probably shouldn’t be. Anytime you put powerful hormones that are that far down the chain of hormones into your body you are potentially asking for problems.

And – even worse – it turns out that Big Pharma may be manipulating this increasing “need” for supplementing testosterone through drugs that can have some pretty severe side effects:

Regional exposure to televised direct-to-consumer advertising was associated with greater testosterone testing, new initiation, and initiation without recent serum testosterone tests.

What this means is that guys that wouldn’t have thought of getting testosterone therapy (and may not need it) initiated that therapy after seeing a television ad.

This makes me crazy, hopping mad. Because what happens when you put this type of replacement hormone in your body is you (at least) temporarily shut down your body’s ability to make it.

Once you start on replacement therapy your body stops making testosterone.

Here’s what Dr. Pallais of Harvard says:

“There is a bit of a testosterone trap,” Dr. Pallais says. “Men get started on testosterone replacement and they feel better, but then it’s hard to come off of it. On treatment, the body stops making testosterone. Men can often feel a big difference when they stop therapy because their body’s testosterone production has not yet recovered.”

That is flat-out, bad for your body ridiculous.

I am soooooooo tired of Big Pharma manipulating men into taking drugs when they don’t really need them. Especially when the drugs themselves create dependency like testosterone supplements can!

Can you SEE the steam coming out of my ears?

(BTW… never go off a prescription without talking to your doc first – I’m not a doc. I’m a researcher)

Most men can raise their testosterone naturally

The male body is amazing. For the great majority of guys, it can and will produce more testosterone if you give it the right nudge and get rid of some of the bad crap that is in most of our environments and diets.

But you won’t hear about these simple methods to raise testosterone from Big Pharma. All you are going to get from them is ads and pushing their products.

There is no money in it for them if they tell you the natural ways to get your body to produce more testosterone. The ways that don’t create dependency.

I’m convinced Big Pharma WANTS you to be dependent on them. Which is exactly why I write this stuff every day!

Cut out the cured meats to give yourself a testosterone boost

Specifically anything with nitrogens. They usually read on the label as nitrites.

Check out this chart:

This includes medication, cured meats, or vegetables grown with high nitrate organic fertilizer.

It’s also important to know that the dosages used in these studies were not huge doses. They’re comparable to those that a person would get who is not trying all that hard to avoid them.

Now that is just the tip of the iceberg. There are lots of other things you can do to raise your testosterone naturally as well. But this alone will help.
The most important thing is that you don’t take what Big Pharma tells you with their huge advertising budgets as being the end all /be all of truth. Always investigate on your own and do your own due diligence especially before you go on a drug that is designed to make you dependent.
