The shocking truth about Aloe Vera

What are the Risks of Aloe Vera and Testosterone?

Where I used to live in Los Angeles, aloe vera grew almost everywhere.

The spiky leaves could be picked almost at will.

And humans have known for centuries the benefits of the aloe vera plant and health.

If you cut away the spines in the outside part, what’s left is the “filet.”

This part can be applied to wounds, or even converted into juice and taken internally.

A lot of people think there are plenty of benefits of drinking aloe vera juice.

It does seem to lower blood pressure dramatically when you drink aloe vera juice over time.

And many people swear by the aloe juice to fix gut problem.

Plus, aloe vera on a wound or burn seems truly to help it heal faster.

So I wanted to review the uses of aloe vera here.

After I noticed it available in the supermarket, I wanted to see what all the hype is about.

At the supermarket, you can get it as cut fresh leaves that you find in the produce section.

You can also get it as “filet” juice in the drug section here in the USA.

So, our first study is one out of India.

It shows one of the mechanisms for aloe vera to work whether applied directly to a wound or burn or taken internally.

Influence of Aloe Vera

Researchers gave rats wounds, which is kind of bad and kind of sad, but it’s done.

And then they evaluated how the rats healed if they got aloe vera, and how they healed if they didn’t.

When a wound is healing, there is what process where the body lays down what’s called a matrix.

This matrix is the framework where the cells will then line up and become either new tissue or scar tissue.

The matrix kind of holds all the cells together.

So it has to be the first thing that forms.

It’s like a building where they put scaffolding up first.

So the researchers found that aloe vera rapidly speeds up the formation of this matrix.

Therefore it speeds up the healing process — and by up to 50%.

Both topical and oral treatments with Aloe vera were found to have a positive influence on the synthesis of the matrix and thereby beneficially modulate wound healing.

Another clue as to how aloe vera works shows up in this study.

Effect of Aloe Vera

Aloe vera caused a decrease in nitric oxide production. And yet, it was speeding up the healing process.

ALOE VERA possesses acute and chronic anti-inflammatory activity, which is partly mediated by reduced production of NO, which in turn prevents the release of inflammatory mediators.

However, the aloe vera situation is not simple.

In some cases, aloe vera actually increases nitric oxide.

This is why I do not recommend drinking aloe vera.

It’s pretty clear that aloe vera increases nitric oxide over the longer run in the body.

And aloe vera may lower blood pressure, but it causes a host of other problems.

Aloe Vera toxic effects

They gave male rats aloe vera and then tested their male hormones and testicle weight.

The testes weight, serum testosterone, as well as sperm count and fertility of the aloe vera treated groups were significantly reduced when compared to the control.

This definitely agrees with what I have found in my research.

In some cases, aloe vera may temporarily lower nitric oxide levels.

But in general, aloe vera over time increases nitric oxide levels which is very harmful.

Aloe vera increases what is called inducible nitric oxide synthase.

These are a family of enzymes that cause lower sperm counts and lower androgen levels.

And it probably causes many other negative effects of high nitric oxide.

The data confirm sever deleterious effects of aloe vera on fertility of male rat through overexpression of iNOs gene signaling pathway.

So should you use aloe vera?

Is aloe water good for you? How does it work between Aloe Vera testosterone?

I would suggest using aloe vera externally, but not consuming it internally at all.

If it helps you heal your sunburn or your wound, as it seems to, it is very useful.

But don’t start drinking the stuff.

1. Does aloe vera increase testosterone?
Aloe vera as a medicinal herb has long been used for human consumption. The thick leaves of Aloe vera contain a gel-like compound that is known to have medicinal properties. Aloe vera is found to have many healing properties especially in repairing skin wounds and in the healing of ulcers. It can be said that Aloe Vera has immune boosting properties and has powerful antiviral properties.
The Aloe vera gel has also been found to have a significant effect on hormones in the body, but its long term effects on hormones is still a topic under research. Aloe vera gel consists of high levels of carbohydrates, calcium malate and specific proteins that interact with the body and plays a beneficial role.
Aloe vera also acts as an adaptogen agent and keeps the cells & tissue health of the body in balance. Not only does Aloe vera protects the body from oxidative stress but since it is a rich source of polysaccharides, it improves the immune system. Aloe vera is also rich in a host of Vitamins like Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Vitamin B12. It is also rich in Calcium, Chromium, Copper, Selenium, Magnesium, Manganese and Potassium.
Rich in enzymes, Aloe vera contains Amylase, Catalase, Cellulase, Lipase and a host of other beneficial enzymes that has powerful antioxidant properties.
Also known as a “plant of hundred years”, taking aloe vera with honey has been found to increase pelvic blood circulation and increases sexual libido. Aloe vera is rich in Phytoestrogens which has been found to affect sexual hormones. There are studies that show that certain flavonoids in aloe vera extract can cause an increase in testosterone by stalling the enzymes like aromatase and 5-alpha reductase.
Aloe vera also acts as a protective agent against radiation and prevents testicular damage that can happen from gamma radiation. Aloe vera gel has also been found to improve and increase the motility of the sperm, thus improving the hormone level.
Aloe vera gel has also been found to inhibit the function of some enzymes that are involved in testosterone metabolism. According to a specific study that was published in ‘Phytotherapy research”, the compounds in Aloe vera does influence testosterone secretions, though the exact physiological effects are unclear. But it is important to note that too much of Aloe vera gel intake might do harm to the hormonal balance.
For example in some controlled studies done on animals, an increased Aloe vera intake has been found to increase the risk of skeletal abnormalities. Aloe vera gel also consists of certain cytokines, as well as nitric oxide which is where its supposed role in regulating or boosting the levels of Testosterone comes in play. Nitric oxide plays an important role in erections and is one of the compounds that give one the essential hardness when aroused.
But, the increase of nitric oxide over time can be harmful to the body. This increase boosts a specific enzyme called Inducible Nitric oxide synthase. This specific family of enzymes can cause a reduction in sperm counts and lower the androgen levels.
