There are lots of hormones in your body.

But the ones that primarily control how much happiness and pleasure you feel and seek are called dopamine and oxytocin.

Dopamine is an extremely important hormone.

It gets you up in the morning to go to work.

It even controls your drive to reproduce.

But dopamine has absolutely no interest in making you happy.

Dopamine is there strictly for short-term pleasure.

And it will actually work against you when trying to accomplish long-term goals – as we can see in this study.

This really helps, especially if you leave the electronic devices at home.

The other is to spend more time in skin-to-skin contact with your significant other.

This can be as simple as holding hands or cuddling on the couch.

Another way to hack the dopamine cycle in your body is to give it what it wants.

Dopamine likes short-term rewards.

So, if you break down big goals into small chunks, and give yourself a pat on the back for each chunk achieved, then you’ll be giving the dopamine part of your brain what it wants.

The reality is this:

Nature doesn’t care if you are happy or successful.

It wants you to reproduce.

So in order to be happy and successful, it will help you to learn how it works and hack the natural systems to work FOR you instead of against you.
