When I read this, I almost dropped my cranberry juice…

I love cranberries and I hope you’re eating them.

Most people only eat cranberries once or twice a year.

I eat them all the time. I cook frozen cranberries in sugar in the oven for a couple of hours.

It’s as simple as that. Then, when it gets all bubbly I let it cool down.

I prepare fruit and berries that way almost every day during the winter when it’s hard to get good fresh fruit.

People are so afraid of sugar today.

But, as I always point out, carbohydrates are all sugar and nothing but sugar.

All carbohydrates turn into sugar once they are in your body.

And carbohydrates have a major disadvantage in that they are a source of endotoxins forming in your gut.

Many serious health issues are caused by endotoxins.

Cranberries with sugar may be one of the best foods you can eat.

Let’s take a look at why:

In this study, the scientists gave cranberries to extremely fat rats with metabolic problems.

They used four groups of rats and the groups were given various combinations of cranberries and/or cholesterol.

What’s very clear right off the bat is that cranberries lower the enzymes AST and ALT.

The presence of these enzymes in the bloodstream can be an indication of fatty liver:

They should stay in the liver but they are spilling out into the bloodstream instead.

This is not always a symptom of fatty liver.

But if that is what’s causing these enzymes to show up, cranberry seems to help.

Also, cranberries lowered overall inflammation.

How did the scientist determine that? 

“…cranberry lowers levels of the anti-inflammatory cytokine interleukin-10, indicating these animals require less endogenous anti-inflammatory protection.”

And that’s a pretty big deal.

Every guy with a weight problem, sexual problems, or other health issues should consider a substantial intake of cranberries.

And here’s another study.

It is partially funded by the cranberry industry (Ocean Spray), but I’d trust a study funded by a cranberry-processing company over one funded by Big Pharma.

It seems that in human subjects, the consumption of – let’s call it cranberry juice – seems to increase the number of gamma delta cells.

That’s a sign of boosted immunity.

But the rest of the study is a bunch of BS.

They did see fewer missed days at work from the subjects who consumed cranberry juice.

But buried in the study is an admission that they did not see any lower incidence of colds or cases of flu.

And the data isn’t really statistically significant one way or the other due to the low number of subjects in the experiment.

So we can’t really conclude anything from this except that it seems almost certain that cranberry juice boosts certain types of immune function.

Whether that will result in fewer colds or cases of flu is hard to say.

But this may be why cranberry juice actually does work against urinary tract infections.

Because of the boosted immunity.

But I want to emphasize that you don’t need the horrific cranberry “juice” they sell at the store, though.

Just cook whole frozen cranberries with sugar the way I do it. That should give you all the cranberry you need.

That is probably much much better for you than the “juice.”
