How many pounds of this do you consume?

Are you ready for some unsettling news?

Nanoscale plastic particles, which are found in most food and water, can pass from pregnant rats to their unborn children and may impair fetal development.

And according to a Rutgers study, the same process is likely happening in humans.

But hey, no big deal, right?

Now…while this is super alarming, this isn’t just an article about pregnant rats.

It’s an article about how many dangerous micro particles of plastic we ingest and how they are negatively affecting our bodies!

I’m going to tell you right now that if the plastics are affecting the fetuses of rats that they are ALSO affecting full grown humans.

There is not a single doubt in my brain that this is the case.

It’s absolutely astounding just how much plastic we are actually consuming!

Erosion chips microscopic particles off the billions of tons of plastics that are exposed to the elements in the environment. These particles mix with the food we eat and the air we breathe. A typical person ingests a credit card’s worth of them every week, Demokritou said.

A credit card’s worth of plastic every week? Yum.

One of the things that worries me the most in this study is that it shows that these teeny-tiny plastic particles that we breathe in and ingest every single day make it out of our intestines!

These findings demonstrate that ingested nanoscale polystyrene plastics can breach the intestinal barrier.

When ANYTHING is breaching our intestinal wall that isn’t supposed to do that… it’s extremely problematic to human health.

It doesn’t matter whether you are a man or a woman — having plastics breaching your intestinal lining isn’t good news.

Petroleum-based plastics are not biodegradable, but weathering and photooxidation break them into tiny fragments. These tiny fragments, called micro-nano-plastics, are found in human lungs, placentas and blood, raising human health concerns.

These plastics are getting into our blood — and bringing all of their hormone disrupting chemicals with them!

EDCs are chemicals that disturb the body’s hormone systems and can cause cancer, diabetes, reproductive disorders, and neurological impairments of developing fetuses and children. The report describes a wealth of evidence supporting direct cause-and-effect links between the toxic chemical additives in plastics and specific health impacts to the endocrine system.

I wonder just how much the plastics in our environment are threatening hormone balances — especially in men.

This is not a small or limited risk and it’s why I don’t eat out of plastic containers or drink out of plastic or plastic lined cups (like paper coffee cups).

The amount of dangerous chemicals in plastic products is simply mind boggling!

Research estimates that plastics contain 144 different chemicals that can be harmful to human health.

One hundred and forty four chemicals or chemical groups known to be hazardous to human health are actively used in plastics for functions varying from antimicrobial activity to colorants, flame retardants, solvents, UV-stabilizers, and plasticizers.

Look… I’m going to be honest here…

I don’t have a perfect solution to this problem.

Plastics are useful and they’ve transformed our world from car seat cushions to food safety items.

But… that doesn’t mean that plastics are safe and it doesn’t mean they are good for our health when they are INSIDE our bodies.

In this case, I think it’s all about mitigating risk instead of eliminating it.

There’s toxic chemicals like BPA all around us, even in the bathroom…

And chances are, you’ve already used this item once or twice today…

And each time, it’s exposing your most private manly areas to dangerous toxins…

Toxins that can cause terrible performance problems for men, even cancer.

Watch this quick video — are you protecting yourself in the bathroom?
