The wonders of black seed oil
Black seed oil has been used for centuries as a natural remedy for various health issues.
The ancient Egyptians praised its healing properties, and it has since been used in traditional medicine across the globe.

This study was conducted at Mahatma Gandhi University, India. It was published in the Journal of Herbal Medicine.
The researchers recruited 15 healthy individuals who had difficulty sleeping.
Participants were given 200mg black seed oil (BSO) capsules to take after dinner every day for 28 days (capsules contained 5% thymoquinone.)
The researchers used a method called polysomnography to measure sleep quality.
This involved attaching electrodes to the participants’ scalp, face, chest, and legs to measure brain waves, eye movements, and muscle activity during sleep.
The participants underwent two polysomnography tests – one at the start of the study and another after 7 days of taking the BSO capsules.
The researchers also used validated questionnaires to measure secondary outcomes such as anxiety, stress, and sleep quality index at the beginning and end of the experiment.
“(…) using the validated questionnaires Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Depression Anxiety Stress Scale -21 (DASS-21) and Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale-A (HAM-A).”
Additionally, the researchers measured cortisol levels in participants’ blood to evaluate the effects of BSO on stress levels.
Finally, they conducted a safety evaluation by analyzing the participants’ blood samples, which helped ensure that BCO was safe for consumption.
“Haematological and biochemical analysis demonstrated the safety of BSO during the study period.”
Results showed significant improvements in total sleep time, latency, and efficiency, with increased REM sleep and reduced stress and anxiety levels.
“The results suggested a significant improvement in primary outcomes such as total sleep time, sleep latency, and sleep efficiency with an increase of 82.49 % in Non-Rapid Eye Movement (NREM 3) and 29.38 % increase in Rapid Eye Movement sleep (REM sleep).
“The secondary outcome measurements also showed a significant reduction in anxiety and stress as evident from DASS-21 and HAM-A scales, with significant reduction in Cortisol.”
All stress signs, including cortisol, decreased, and sleep quality improved.

Black seed oil is a safe and effective natural remedy for improving sleep quality and reducing stress and anxiety.
