This vitamin deficiency causes poor sperm health

Male fertility and sperm health are falling rapidly.

I want to say… we’re under attack in that regard.

According to the data, fertility rates and sperm counts literally fell more than 50% in the last century.

But this doesn’t just happen out of nowhere.

It is related to poor dietary and lifestyle habits for sure.

That is, it’s preventable.

It’s in our hands to protect and strengthen our sexual health.

I’m here every day to show you how it’s done.

Today is one of those days – A nutrient, K2, is crucial for sperm health.

An average person doesn’t even know what K2 is, let alone its connection with fertility and sperm health.

Thankfully, you are not an average person – you’re reading my newsletter regularly.

Now on to that study.

This study was conducted at ShanghaiTech University. It was published in iScience.

This research is about sperm maturation.

Meaning the process by which a sperm matures and becomes fully functional after being produced by the testes.

It’s a little bit complicated to study (the terminology and stuff), but I will tell you every part that you need to know one by one.

Let’s start.

The researchers used rats to study how low levels of calcium affect sperm maturation in the epididymis.

“A low-calcium microenvironment is essential for spermatozoa to mature in the epididymis; however, it remains unclear how dysregulation of epididymal luminal calcium is associated with male infertility”

By the way, the epididymis is part of the male reproductive system that is located behind the testicles. It stores and carries sperm.

To create low-calcium conditions in the rats, the researchers used a treatment called warfarin – if taken in very high doses, it induces K2 deficiency.

In the maturation process, they found that two proteins, GGCX and MGP, are important for intercellular communication.

Apparently, GGCX and MGP are two proteins that are vital in this process.

“We found that vitamin-K-dependent γ-glutamyl carboxylase (GGCX) and matrix Gla protein (MGP) were essential in extracellular calcium signaling of the intercellular communication required for epididymal sperm maturation. We found that GGCX and MGP co-localized in the vesicular structures of epididymal cells and spermatozoa.”

Because MGP binds to proteins in a way that depends on the amount of calcium present – low levels of calcium enhance the binding, while high levels inhibit it.

And the gene that involves GGCX is related to male infertility.

“We also identified an SNP mutation, rs699664, in the GGCX gene of infertile men with asthenozoospermia”

In short, these 2 play a key role in this calcium regulation in the sperm maturation process.

And…

K2 deficiency directly causes low calcium AND interference with these proteins.

Without enough K2, calcium levels in the epididymis become disrupted, and these proteins can’t be activated.

Therefore, sperm cannot be fully maturated – which leads to problems with fertility.

If you want to strengthen your sperm and protect your fertility, K2 is the way to go.

People don’t get enough of this key nutrient anymore.

It’s found in dairy, cheese, and fermented foods.

There are a couple of forms of vitamin K2 – like MK4 and MK-7

I find that MK-7 supplementation causes side effects, whereas MK4 doesn’t.

If you decide to go the supplement route, definitely look for MK4 only.

The other forms should come from food only.

Also, when supplementing, pay attention to your magnesium, calcium, and Vitamin D intake because getting enough of those prevents unwanted complications with K2.

My friend and colleague, Dr. Magill, created a pro-male supplement designed to support great blood flow all over the body…

…especially down there…

And one key ingredient is vitamin K2 MK4.

It’s the purest most naturally soured vitamin K2 we could get, and men are absolutely loving it.

We even recently reformulated this supplement to be even better by maximizing the potency and power.
