Fruits vs Veggies — which is better for men?

There is a lot of “diet advice” out there today that is just plain wrong.

Much of the time people are being told to cut carbs and avoid fruit because it’s “too sugary.”

Fruit is a forbidden food.

I can’t even tell you the amount of times people have told me that, and it’s mostly based on paleo or keto type plans.

These people are DEAD wrong.

Fruit is protective to health, and since it’s the only food that actually WANTS to be eaten — because that’s how it spreads its seeds — you should eat as much fruit as you want.

Most of the studies done on fruits also include vegetables.

Ripe fruits can be eaten raw or cooked.

If you can’t find fresh, ripe fruit make sure you cook it first.

Vegetables need to be well cooked so they don’t leave endotoxins in your system.

They don’t “want to be eaten” like fruit does, so you need to make sure that you are preparing them well.

Sometimes these studies include whole grains.

I’m not a fan of whole grains at all. They leave a lot of endotoxins in your system, which can cause problems.

For most people, white rice and white potatoes are better choices.

Fruit can promote weight loss.

Despite what the diet “gurus” say about fruit, fruit actually helps people LOSE weight.

Eating non-starchy vegetables and fruits like apples, pears, and green leafy vegetables can even promote weight loss. Their low glycemic loads prevent blood sugar spikes that can increase hunger.

When you eat fruit you get nutrient rich food that fills you up.

Eating fruit helps prevent diabetes.

Interestingly, fruit can also help lower the risk for diabetes.

Recent studies show that increasing your fruit intake by just 2.32 ounces a day (about a half a peach) decreases your risk of diabetes by 25%!

Considering how good fruit tastes, this is great news!

The researchers calculate that every 66 grams per day increase in total fruit and vegetable intake was associated with a 25% lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

I think eating fruit is the best news.

You don’t have to go on an “all fruit diet” to get significant benefits. Adding a single fruit to your diet everyday can make a big difference.

And for fruit and vegetables, the findings also suggest that consumption of even a moderately increased amount among populations who typically consume low levels could help to prevent type 2 diabetes.

So eat that fruit! Find a kind you like and eat as much of it as you want.

It’s likely to help you lose weight if you want to and it’s very protective.
